In Up direction, trains are received at Katihar interchange point (N. F. Railway) and made over to Chhapra interchange point of Varanasi Division (N. E. In Down direction movement are vice-versa, trains are taken over at Chhapra & Muzaffarpur points and made over to Katihar Division. Almost 80% of goods trains travel on Katihar – Barauni – Sahpur patoree – Sonpur – Chapra route which in a way is chord line of the Division.

 4. PERFORMANCE IN GENERAL- MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT:

Sonpur is the first Division in E. C. Railway where 100% booking of Guards is being done by CMS in Sonpur Division. Now the 100% Mileage bills is generated through the system and all manual working is stopped & manual register for “Sign on/sign off” availability of running staff is totally stopped from the lobbies.

4.1 PUNCTUALITY:

A)After the installation of COIS, best ever Mail/Exp. punctuality figure of 95% on 13.02.2013 is achieved. The previous best ever punctuality figure was 94% on 07.09.2012.

B)Due to hard work being done by all the officials round the clock, punctuality of Mail/Express trains has improved during the current year. Figure is as follows:

There are some operational constraints which affect punctuality also which need to early completion:

a)   Early completion of 2nd bridge between SEE – HJP is required.

b)   Early Completion of Patch Doubling of remaining station of BJU – KIR section i.e. GAI - NNR & KTRH - CRR is required.

c)  Raising of speed of north line between SAE - BJU from 50 KMPH to 100 KMPH may be completed on priority.

d)   Some sectional speed constraints hamper the line capacity utilization of section and reduce the utilization of engine as well as affect the punctuality. Also the larger sections of this division are still left for the relaxation of speed on turnout/loop line.
